Campaign Story

My name is Sarah, and for a dozen + years I’ve primarily been called “Ms. Dolphin” in the classroom and ‘Coach Sarah’ on the pool deck, and ‘Auntie’ amongst my friends’ kids…but I’ve yet to be called Mom.

My dream of becoming a mother is one of my earliest memories-while playing House or Hospital on our street growing up, while getting to hold babies poolside for other families-I always dreamed of becoming a mom. At times, it is what fueled my passion for coaching and then teaching younger children. Working with kids of all ages has been fulfilling to me since I was 15 years old-and I now find myself at 36, single and struggling to fulfill my biggest wish. 

Unfortunately, the insurance offered by my job does not cover any cost whatsoever toward fertility treatments or medication. Currently our healthcare system in the US charges an extensive amount for these procedures and there are multiple levels of incurred costs along the way. I work incredibly hard as a teacher and across multiple coaching recreational & high school swimming in my “free” time, but I simply do not earn enough money annually to cover IVF or the necessary medications. 

Pursuing solo motherhood was not my initial intention. A few years ago, while lamenting my fear of increasing age and a newly discovered low AMH level to friends, they suggested I seek information about solo pregnancy. In the months since that conversation, I sought out opinions & medical advice. I am now painfully aware of the many medical science steps and included costs necessary to truly push myself towards fulfilling my dream. Regardless of the challenges it now poses, I am still confident and hopeful be called ‘Mom’ one day.

Any financial support is so appreciated-it will be both life altering and hopefully, life giving. I can only dream that one day my own child will grow up happily alongside the many I’ve been blessed to watch blossom in our community already.
